Nursing Training School

The first students, two medical assistants, graduated from the Chikankata Nursing Training School in 1950. Since then the school has gone through many changes, new programs have been introduced to replace old ones. Over 2000 nurses have graduated from Chikankata over the years.

Today there are 50 students working towards passing the three year course for registered nurses. The academic level required for entry is Grade 9 although virtually all those who are accepted have 6 passes in the Grade 12 examination.

We also have an one year enrolled midwifery program for 20 students who are already working as enrolled nurses. Most of our student comes from southern province of Zambia although applications are welcome from everywhere! Competition is tough and Chikankata is proud of its graduates.

The School currently has five Tutos and two Clinical Instructors
