Commissioner Dr. M. Y. Emmanuel Conferred the Title Doctor of Divinity (Honoris CAUSA)
The Academy of Ecumenical Indian Theology and Church Administration is a registered society set up with the aim to promote and propagate Indian Christian Theology which is being developed economically since the dawn of Christianity in India. The contributions of early Indian theologians, from various denominations, who have paved the way for the development of a specifically Indian Theology as well as the Contextual Theologies of the contemporary scholars who are articulating the hope and aspirations of the marginalized, are studied and reflected on.
On the 21st convocation of the Academy of Ecumenical Indian Theology and Church Administration selected the following members to hold the convocation and to award the degree of Doctor of Divinity (Honoris Causa) of the Academy in recognition of the services of the reputed public servants/ scholars / theologians / social activist and church leaders, who have served the churches in India or abroad in any capacity satisfactorily in the judgement of the academy. Along with Commissioner Dr. M. Y. Emmanuel, Territorial Commander of ICT, the following members were also awarded:

There was a huge crowd gathered to witness this auspicious occasion at the Ziegenbalg Auditorium, Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute, Kilpauk, Chennai on Saturday, 18th July 2009. Dr. K. Rajaratnam, Chancellor and Rt. Rev. Dr. M. Azariah, Pro-Chancellor of the academy were also present. Members from various churches and institutions participated in this special event.
THQ Divisional Officers and Salvationists also attended this convocation. We praise and thank God for this.
