WISH YOU A JOYOUS INDEPENDENCE DAY IN JESUS, THE LORD'S NAME!

“I am shaking the foundations of the British empire” said Gandhi with a handful of salt on 12 of March 1930.

In the wake of the freedom movement salt became a significant entity to propel the spirit of freedom swiftly across the nation. August 15, 1947 was only just a formal announcement of freedom to India, but the base works for freedom began a long back. Staunch and strenuous one among them was the Danddy March in the year of 1930 that had its rich memory in the history. Salt was wide spoken. Salt became the symbol of India's will to freedom. It made the minds up with the feel and zeal of the freedom to the length and breadth of the nation. When British had made the salt a sky high boon for the commons of India, Gandhiji hit the nail on the head of British using his own style and strategy of fighting. I do not know Gandhiji's intention of reading scripture but he might be well aware of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Let me just here make an attempt of scratching your head by this corresponding insight of SALT.

Salt is the symbol of name: (2 Samuel 8:13, 2 Kings14:7)

“David made a name for himself when he returned from killing 18,000 Armeans in the valley of Salt” – 2 Samuel 8:13. The valley of Salt became the place for his name; the world of David became known to people at this valley of salt. The name of David and the name of the Valley of salt were mutually drawn into the attention of the world. It became the talk of then towns and spoken to the length. David in fact was not bent on making name on his own; rather he worked hard for his people on God's name that won the name for him. We see the world where we live in. It is not wonder to see people run after their name and fame. Devil, being well aware of people's desire of name and fame, manipulates his finest tricks and talents to target them. Recently he has turned his eyes on churches and all possible gatherings of God's people. Believers and even pastors and leaders are not spared in his targets. People aimed at making name on their own cater to the needs for weeds to grow in the fond of fellowship of believers eventually become pray to his targets. It's been one of the proximate causes of the today's churches' suffer. One who work hard and toil for the sake of God's people, is salty who deserves his name that comes from the God of glory.

Salt is the symbol of humanness: (Philippians 2:3)

“Regard one another more important than another” can be said of the crown of humanity. Growing horrors and terrors are the result of poverty in humanity. Why there marginalized, deprived, homeless and hopeless? Why there trillions of inhuman? Aren't because of lack of humanness? People at every hour emerge with multiple concerns in need of humanness. As salt adds taste to dishes so humanness to human life. Failure to cast just a smile at people who are in need of and failure to have a halt to listen to the marginalized and cornered have left numberless fatefully cry for humanness. Inhuman ultimately triggers to violence and atrocities. India is today restless to fight with terrorism and to sustain humanism.

Salt is the symbol of Freedom: (Ephesians 5:8)

Salt implies freedom. Freedom in the sense of light that includes emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual ultimately a holistic development requires to be persuaded. Paul says in Ephesians 5:8, “you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord”. What Paul here says requires to be carefully read, he says that you were darkness, it requires a careful attention as it does contrast between ‘you were darkness’ and ‘you were in darkness’. Freedom always begins at will and pleasure. Gifted and salty are the people who are blessed with the attitudes of will and pleasure for good thing who can alone bring freedom to the world of darkness. People like General William Booth are greater and gifted who had the passion for freedom. It is not of own but of God's. Philippians 2:13, “For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and work for His good pleasure”. God has blessed everyone with some extent of good will and pleasures. In the world of freebies we are the freer of human.

Salt is the symbol of Victory: (2 Samuel 8:13; 2 Kings 14:7; 1 Chrinicles 18:12)

Salt implies victory. David got triumph over his adversaries at this valley of salt. Not only to David but also to some other it had remained the place of victory. A complete freedom in spirit, emotion, physic and psych, leads to victory over evils. Thus holistic growth brings victory over the world where we live in.

Let us be salty to be more human, free and victorious! May God make us salty enough to amass souls to His kingdom!

God Bless You!
