by Lt. Colonel K. C. David

Dr. Billy Graham in his Daily Reading ‘Hope For Each Day’ mentioned as follows :

“Many a time when I meet Jewish friends I greet them with Shalom the Hebrew word for Peace. And often I greet Arab friends with the similar term that they use for Peace ‘Salam’.”

PEACE comes with the idea of

UNITY
REST
EASE &
SECURITY

Another Election is over in our Nation and a new Government sworn-in headed by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister. No doubt, both the Government and Citizens wish the next five years to be a time of unity, rest, ease, safety and security. In other words - Peaceful life.

Source of Peace :

The Bible clearly says that God is the source of Peace. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with the hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13) The God of peace will crush Satan under your feet. (Romans 16:20)

His name means “King of Righteousness”; then also, King of Salem means “King of peace”. Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God he remains a priest for ever. (Hebrews 7:2)

“Peace I leave with you: my peace I give you.” (John 14:27)

Unity :

Jesus said in one of His parable “every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every City or household divided against itself will not stand (Matthew12:25). Thank God for keeping India the largest democratic country in the world to keep its unity all these years in spite of various issues, problems and crisis.

SECURITY :

One of the important responsibility of the Government is to safeguard the lives and property of the citizens of the Nation.

PROMISE FOR INDIA IS THAT :

"The Lord your God takes care of this land and watches over it throughout the year." (Deuteronomy 11:12)

Let us thank God for watching our Nation so far and ask for continuous protection. Also pray for Men and Women serving day and night in various parts of our country to protect the Nationals and offer petitions, prayers, requests and thanksgiving for the authorities so that God will give them needed wisdom and we will live a quiet and peaceful life.

BELIEVERS’ RESPONSIBILITY :

From our side as Paul said “Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and mutual edification”. (Romans 14:19)

Congratulations to the new Government and our promise of prayer support to all our political Leaders.

May God bless India.
