All India HIV/AIDS Norad Funded Project Evaluation Programme - Gudiwada Division, ICT

An evaluation program for the All India HIV/AIDS Project was conducted in India Central Territory during 4th to 7th August 2009. This evaluation program was conducted according to the BN guidelines. Major Magna V Nielsen from Norway Territory was invited for this evaluation program hoisted by Gudivada Division, ICT. Six Territorial HIV/AIDS Coordinators & 40 participants including the Divisional staff of Gudivada Division attended this evaluation programme.
This programme was evaluated by the professionals from different organisations. Dr. Poorna Chandra Rao and Mrs. Chinni were the evaluators of the programme. Commissioner M. Y. Emmanuel, the Territorial Commander and Lt. Colonel P. T. Abraham, the Chief Secretary of ICT were invited for the program as Chief Guests. The Chief Secretary inaugurated the programme.
During this evaluation program, we found many Government Organisations and NGOs, have good net work and working partnership with The Salvation Army to provide more care towards HIV/AIDS patients. We have also visited Government General Hospital Staff, Gudivada, who are always a great support to our work and helping us by giving pre-test and post-test counselling and also free medical support time to time. The participants and the evaluators visited the communities and tested practically how the work is going on. They have visited Saidepudi Corps for home-based care.
The Salvation Army Hostel for the Child Capacity Development Programmes, Valivarthi padu Corps for the participatory Action Research Program, Valiverthy padu for Youth Capacity Development, Kornipadu for Community Counselling and Eadaramaddala, for Psycho Social Support. These programs were practically observed and evaluated in the communities itself.
In the closing ceremony, the Territorial Commander stated that “We the Salvationists need to take onward and forward of all the activities taken up through the project to be more beneficial to all those who are suffering with HIV/AIDS.”
Mr. Thimoti Nygard from Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Program, Krishna District Program Coordinator, was invited for this program. Mr. Thimoti mentioned that Government has good relationship with The Salvation Army HIV/AIDS working Teams and he promised that he will arrange with the State Government to give full support.
The Territorial leaders, Government organizations, Non-Government organizations, Local political leaders & the public have appreciated The Salvation Army's work among the HIV/AIDS infected and affected people,
Many local media persons have come to cover up the news for this programme. The feedback of the participants of this programme was published in the next day local news papers.
The above program was organised by Major D. Jeeva Ratnam, Secretary for Health, Social & Emergency Services from India National Secretariat, with the support of the Territorial Coordinator Captain Rajpaul and the Divisional Coordinator Mr. D. Dhana Raju.
