My Arms Are Around The World back to 'William Booth - Famous Words'
As an old man William Booth summed up his policy when he said: 'I have been trying all my life to stretch out my arms so as to reach with one hand the poor, and at the same time to keep the other in touch with the rich. But my arms are not long enough.'
Long enough or not, his arms stretched to their greatest span, relieving the poor and helping the rich to put their wealth to the greatest use.
