Released 7 February 2008
The rapidly growing multicultural face of the city of Brandon is being celebrated at the Salvation Army Thrift Store with the simple message, "I love you."
Under the title "God is love", the words are written in ten different languages (including English) on the store's front window. Patrons are offered a one-dollar discount for every language they correctly identify-an offer many decline. "The clothes are already cheap enough! I just want to see how many I can get right," said one shopper, who proceeded to stand outside in the -50C weather to study the words.

"This is helping us communicate with our customers better . . ." notes store manager Michelle Cassells, ". . . and I can't think of a better thing to tell them." All proceeds from the store are used to support the work of The Salvation Army in Brandon.
